Going Full Frame with Cooke

Taking delivery earlier this year, we’re very pleased to offer the Cooke 1.8x Anamorphic Full Frame Plus lenses as part of our already-extensive range of glass.

With the release of the wonderful S7/i Full Frame Plus spherical primes, users came asking for a Full Frame anamorphic equivalent. Cooke delivered.

Cooke opted for a 1.8x squeeze ratio because at 2x you’d be wasting too many pixels, and at 1.6x (the correct ratio to use every pixel) there isn’t enough anamorphic character in the image.

1.8x was settled upon because it has a classic look and the oval bokeh we all love in anamorphic. At 2.39:1, you’re capturing 90% of the pixels, yet because these lenses are designed to cover the full, Full Frame sensor and then some; you’re able to shoot 100% of the pixels if you want which will result in an aspect of 2.70:1.

Though slightly on the heavier side for a prime lens, these are incredibly well built, utilise the Cooke i/ Protocol for capturing lens metadata and provide DoP’s with the classic ‘Cooke Look’.

As always, we are more than happy to organise an in-house test at our facility in Battersea, but please call ahead and check availability with our bookings team as these lenses are in high demand!
